Often parents don’t realise how torn children feel about family conflict, and unintentionally say awful things about each other and expect them to take sides. Not only does this put children in impossibly difficult situations, it can have a severe impact on their emotional health, and long-term ability to form positive peer relationships as they get older. The harm inflicted through family conflict is rarely recognised and even more rarely responded to, despite strong evidence that it can lead to problems for young people in the future. We hope to show how important getting things right at home can be to protect children.
